We live in crazy times right now. As of this writing, March 22, 2020, our country is facing an invisible fight with COVID-19, Coronavirus. It is very contagious and deadly to those who have pre-existing conditions and those over 60 years of age. At this time our government wants everyone to stay home, no unnecessary travel, and no congregating in groups of more than 10 people. Schools are closed, restaurants are doing to-go orders and drive-through only. Many businesses, malls, bars, and hair salons are closed as well.
So how do we handle being home and only going out to get the essential supplies and food that we need? That is a question many families are asking. Luckily, with the Internet still up and running, there are many ideas out there if we do the research. Hopefully, I may give you some ideas as well.
A list of things to help you with the quarantine.
- Puzzles and board games
- Movie nights with popcorn and candy
- Listen to music – dance party
- Teach kids how to two-step, slow dance (Please 😉!)
- Cooking lessons for the kiddos
- Fondue with the kids
- Baking
- Teach teens car maintenance
- Learn a new skill
- Read a new series
- Organize a room a day
- Get things you don’t need ready to donate
- Print coloring pages, word finds, crossword puzzles from the Internet
- Have a Wii competition if you have one – Wii Sports, Just Dance, etc.
- Find a church service online and participate just as if you were there
- Read the Bible
- Go for a walk/run
- Trim bushes in your yard
- Go for a drive in the neighborhood
- Go for a hike – be outdoors
- Many schools are still in session online. Help your children with homework and communicate with the teachers.
I know there are many other websites out there to help with ideas on what to do during this difficult time. The main thing we can get out of this is we need to stop and take inventory on what is most important in our lives. It is our God, our family, and our health. Take this time to reconnect with our families and thank God for all that we have.
All excellent suggestions.
